
Welcome to the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Department of Journalism & Public Relations. We are home to 40 faculty and staff dedicated to excellence in media education. JPR programs are accredited by the ACEJMC and we offer four academic options: a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations, a Minor in Journalism and a Minor in Public Relations.

FALL 2025
The fall semester is off to a record-breaking start with news of from the National Science Foundation—the largest grant in department history! We’re also welcoming this semester about 80 new transfer students, 50 or so new first-year students and a new assistant professor of public relations, Dr. Barikisu Issaka. Dr. Issaka is an expert in social media and she’s an influencer herself, with almost 100,000 followings across her three go-to social platforms. In addition, Associate Professor Madeleine Liseblad will be bringing the to Long Beach for the first time this fall, and JPR advisors will be available to meet with matriculated students four days week in person or via Zoom throughout the semester; check the JPR advising website for their up-to-date availability.
