Parking FAQ

Parking fees are shared and equitable. All individuals who use the parking facilities on campus must also share in the cost of those facilities and services regardless of their status (employee, faculty, student) or guest designation. 

Title 5, Article 7, Section 42201(a) of the ÃÛÌÒÓ°ÏñCode of Regulations states that “the university president may grant permission for the parking of vehicles on campus to those persons who have paid a parking fee."

Parking is enforced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays. If you choose to park on campus, some form of paid parking is required.

ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ permits and Daily Permits may park in all  including the three parking structures. Employee permits may park in all or General (G) Lots including the parking structures. On-Campus Resident permits can park in any or General (G) Lot including parking structures.

90 degree/perpendicular spaces – front-in or back-in parking allowed.* Please be mindful of vehicle traffic, especially vehicles waiting behind you, to avoid potential collisions.

Angled/diagonal spaces – front-in parking only. Backing into angled parking spaces creates an unsafe situation by facing the vehicle into oncoming traffic upon departure. Vehicles found backing into angled parking spaces will be cited per CVC 21113. Vehicles with rear charging ports may back into EV charging stations while actively charging.

*Any vehicle not displaying a front license plate will be cited under the CVC 5200, which requires a front-facing license plate within the State of California.

Student semester, monthly, and academic year permits can be purchased online via the . Daily or Short-Term parking is available via the ParkMobile App or the  located within each parking lot.

All student virtual permits are only purchased online through the . ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ uses License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology. Physical permit stickers or hangtags are not issued or required on campus. Your license plate functions as your parking permit.

Permits are nontransferable and may only be used by the individual who has purchased it. Parking privileges will be revoked for any individuals found in violation of campus parking regulations regarding permit sharing. 

Please notify University Police at 562.985.4101 if anyone attempts to illegally sell or transfer a parking permit.

Refund requests can be made at the Cashiers Office in Brotman Hall.  Fall or spring semester permits will be refunded based on the value remaining on the permit at the time of request. Summer session permits are nonrefundable.
